The Private Sector Development Unit (PSDU) is a strategic Unit within the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), responsible for coordinating, consolidating, facilitating, and monitoring the implementation of Uganda’s private sector development interventions across the National Development Plans. The Unit serves as the Government’s focal point for improving the business environment, supporting investor confidence, fostering industrialization, and accelerating enterprise growth across the country.
PSDU is central to the execution of the Second National Strategy for Private Sector Development (NSPSD II) 2022/23–2026/27, which focuses on boosting Uganda’s competitiveness, employment, and socio-economic transformation. The Unit brings together public and private actors to identify systemic constraints and deliver coordinated, evidence-based solutions that benefit Ugandan businesses and citizens.
